He-man Quest: August 2007

This He-man was found by my pal Dave. It's a strange variant from Europe. Not only does he have a cheap head with bright yellow hair, but the box calls him by his European name: Musclor.

What is this blog about?

I have a near complete collection of Masters of the Universe figures from the 1980's.

All of the: 70 figures, 6 playsets, numerous vehicles and accesories are in near mint condition (I was such a good boy!).

However... on inspection of my collection, I noticed to my horror that my original He-man figure had a squiffy leg! The rubber had gone all funny and his leg was bent backwards - he could no longer perform his heroic stance!

Also, there was a suspicious dark stain on his legs, where it met his fur trunks. No, it wasn't a dirty protest. It was the thick rubber band, that joins the legs together, corrupting the plastic.

So I set myself the task of finding a fresh sample for my collection. But woe is me, He-man is rare chap these days!

With the price of an original "mint-on-card" He-man figure now costing around £100 on eBay ($200), I though I would try my luck at finding a mint loose figure on eBay.

This is the continuing story of that heroic quest.

The "C" rating scale

The “C” scale rates condition on a scale of one to 10, with a C10 rating indicating high quality and a C1 rating indicating poor quality.

C10: The C10 rating represents perfection and is incredibly rare.

C9: C9-rated action figures have minimal defects and are excellent collector-quality toys.

C8.5: C8.5-rated action figures are in very good condition. However, collectors may shy away from them.

C8: action figures with a C8 rating, the lowest collector-grade rating, have visible flaws but do not look worn.

C6/7: C7- and C6-rated action figures have rips and apparent flaws. Collect them for nostalgia value only.

C5 and lower: action figures with a rating of C5 or lower are very poor quality. They often have large parts missing and well-worn features.
